This wonderfully restored former mill is located at the end of a bumpy track alongside a tributary of the Rio Ave amidst beautiful rural scenery near the village of Taíde, 7 kms from the town of Póvoa de Lanhoso where you’ll find restaurants, shops, a large weekly market and all local amenities. Braga, one of Portugal’s oldest and most historic towns, is 25kms away and a little further is the magnificent National Park of Peneda-Geres. The Water Mill is a Costa Verde holiday villa of exceptional charm, with some unique and rather romantic touches, including original materials and relics from the old mill’s historic past in and around the house. Interior designs blend a delightful fusion of contemporary and rustic styles between the main house and the superb studio which is 15 metres away beside the waterfall. The water course still runs beneath the dwellings and is imaginatively visible inside both. The open plan living area has an antique dining table beside pátio doors to the private gardens and swimming pool, and a couple of steps lead down to a cosy sitting room with an open fireplace, TV and a balcony overlooking the stream below. The kitchenette opens onto a lovely breakfast terrace with the same inspiring view, whilst an open staircase climbs up to two elegantly rustic en-suite bedrooms, a twin and a double. The studio suite has a quietly sophisticated, almost Alpine style, with wood flooring and walls, contemporary furnishings and a bedroom area with a full width window and a balcony looking directly onto the beautiful surrounding scenes The Watermill and Cascata studio are independant and each with its own pool but can be let together for a larger party or families The watermill is the remarkable result of the reconstruction of na old water (corn and saw) mill. Only the highest level of dedication and good taste made possible to maintain the character of the original property, the austerity of its stone walls and iron lattices From a nearby monastery are skillfully combined with elegant, modern furnishings and light wood. The water course that goes under the building has been preserved and through a glass floor window has a magical effect when lit. The location is somehow magical, alongside a tributary of Ave river amidst alder and eucalyptus trees and water sounds as a Background.
